Abstract:
Prostate brachytherapy is considered a minor procedure with a high success rate and minimal complications. Seed migration is considered a relatively common complication; however, it is underreported because most cases of seed migration are clinically silent.
We present a case of 91-year-old male who had received brachytherapy several decades ago. He was told that he had bladder stone at other hospital. Then, he was referred to our department for surgical intervention. Pre-operative KUB showed one small radiopaque stone and four radioactive seed implants over the pelvic cavity, and the stone was overlapping with one of the seed implants. Cystolithotripsy with Holium laser was performed. The seed implant embedded in bladder stone was noted. Migration of permanent radioactive seed implant into bladder with bladder stone formation was impression. The stone was shattered smoothly, and the implant was removed. The patient recovered soon and was discharged shortly after the operation.
