Purpose: To share our experience using for treating renal and proximal ureteral calculi by retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS).

Materials and Methods: Between July 2018 and August 2020, all patients with renal or proximal ureteral stones who underwent RIRS were retrospectively reported. Surgical details and outcomes were described to improve our experience and management of renal and proximal ureteral calculi.

Results: A total of 340 patients underwent RIRS. The mean patient age, stone size, operating time, and postoperative hospital stay were 56 years (range, 18-88 years), 13.2 mm (range, 1.0-42.1 mm), 61 minutes (range, 27-150), and 2.7 days (range, 2-6 days), respectively. There were 9 modified Clavien grade I and three grade II complications. No blood transfusions were necessary in this series. All patients were treated with double-J stents without a nephrostomy tube. The stone-free rates were 85.8% (103/120) for single stone < 20mm, 73% (14/19) for single stone 20mm, and 69.2% (139/201) for multiple stones.

Conclusions: Our preliminary data showed that RIRS is safe and effective for treating renal and proximal ureteral stones.
