Purpose

We aim to delve into the intricate interplay between AI-generated imagery and male sexual health in the Taiwanese context. Through a comprehensive survey, we seek to explore how exposure to hyper-realistic AI-generated images may influence perceptions of sexual performance, body image, and sexual health practices among Taiwanese men.

Materials and Methods

We designed a structured questionnaire to investigate Taiwanese men's engagement with AI-generated pornographic content, assessing time spent, perceived sexual stimulation compared to traditional pornography, comparisons with real-life sexual experiences, and the impact on perceived sexual performance after exposure to AI-generated pornographic content.

Results

The frequency of viewing AI-generated or traditional pornographic content remains lower compared to traditional pornographic material. However, it does lead to a decrease in the time spent watching traditional pornographic material. AI-generated pornographic content is perceived to better fulfill sexual fantasies compared to traditional pornographic material, although this does not impact sexual behavior in real life. Some participants reported feeling more confident and capable in sexual situations after exposure to AI-generated content, while others expressed concerns about unrealistic expectations and performance pressure stemming from such exposure.

Conclusions

Our study sheds light on the complex relationship between artificial intelligence-generated pornographic content and the sexual habits of Taiwanese men. While the frequency of viewing AI-generated or traditional pornographic content remains lower compared to traditional material, exposure to AI-generated content leads to a reduction in the time spent consuming traditional pornography. This suggests a potential shift in preferences towards AI-generated content due to its perceived ability to better fulfill sexual fantasies. However, despite these perceived benefits, our findings indicate that exposure to AI-generated content does not translate into changes in real-life sexual behavior among Taiwanese men.

Interestingly, while some participants reported feeling more confident and capable in sexual situations after exposure to AI-generated content, others expressed concerns about unrealistic expectations and performance pressure induced by such exposure. These divergent responses highlight the need for further research to explore the psychological effects of AI-generated pornographic content on individuals.

In conclusion, our study underscores the importance of understanding the impact of AI-generated imagery on male sexual health and behavior in the Taiwanese context. By delving into these dynamics, we can better address the potential risks and benefits associated with the proliferation of hyper-realistic AI-generated pornographic content.
