Abstract:
Renal calyceal diverticulum is a congenital disorder, and stones were found up to 50% of the diverticulum. Surgical intervention is indicated in symptomatic patients. Herein, we report a 40 years old female who came to our hospital with repeat intermittent left flank pain. Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy had been done twice recently at another hospital but in vain. KUB showed left renal stones, and further intravenous pyelography (IVP) revealed left renal calyceal diverticulum with stones in upper pole. Retrograde intrarenal surgery was performed via a tiny ostium in the upper calyx. Further Holmium laser incision of diverticular neck was done. Stones were found inside the diverticulum and removed by stone basket. Postoperative x-ray showed stone-free outcome. The literature was reviewed with the topic discussed.
