Kidney transplantation – thirteen years experiences of Tungs’ Taichung Metro Harbor Hospital

Purpose: Our hospital’s first cadaveric kidney transplantation was performed in July 2004. We report the 13 years experiences of kidney transplantation in a metropolitan hospital.
Materials and Methods: From July 2004, we had performed 72 kidney transplantations in our hospital. We showed the results and the findings in our transplant patients.
Results: 38 males and 34 females received kidney transplantation in the past 13 years. 69 of them are cadaveric and the other three patients are living-related. 5 patients suffered from malignancy post-transplantation. Our graft survival rate are 94%, 92,%, 86% and 78% at 3-months, 12-months, 36-months and 60-months respectively.
Conclusions: We report the 13 years experiences of kidney transplantation in our hospital. Our graft survival rates are similar to the national average.
