Purpose:
To report a case with mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy and negative pressure aspiration sheath.
Case presentation:
A 56-year-old woman presented to our hospital with a one-day history of fever, flank pain, poor appetite, general weakness, and nausea. Vomiting, headache, abdominal pain was denied. CT revealed left renal stone with emphysematous pyelonephritis. She underwent percutaneous nephrostomy drainage, which showed sticky and milkshake-like fluid and received 7-day antibiotic treatment with levofloxacin. She then underwent mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy with negative pressure aspiration sheath and the stone was removed within one hour. The blood loss was limited. After the surgery, there was no stone remain on KUB and no fever. She was discharged after one day.
Conclusion:
Mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy should be considered as a safely and efficient approach, which can be performed with a patient with emphysematous pyelonephritis.
