Abstract:
Renal tumors pose a diagnostic challenge, particularly when distinguishing between renal oncocytoma and renal cell carcinoma (RCC). The presence of collateral vessels in RCC indicates a poorer prognosis, suggesting their potential utility in surgical decision-making. Additionally, the da Vinci Surgical System proves to be an excellent surgical tool for performing partial nephrectomy in cases involving collateral vessels. We present the case of a 65-year-old man incidentally diagnosed with a right renal tumor, where collateral vessel assessment played a crucial role in determining the surgical approach. The patient ultimately underwent partial nephrectomy, and pathology confirmed clear cell renal cell carcinoma. This case underscores the importance of collateral vessel evaluation and the utility of robotic-assisted surgery in managing renal tumors.
