Case report:
We present a case of a 40-year-old female who presented with symptoms of a foreign body in the bladder. She reported sensation of a foreign object entering her urethra. KUB showed a foreign body measuring approximately 0.9cm x 8cm in the bladder (Figure 1). The patient was admitted and treated with antibiotics. Cystoscopic removal of the foreign body was performed, aided by nephroscopy, and the object was successfully removed using forceps. The foreign body was removed smoothly (Figure 2). Vital signs remained stable throughout the procedure. Urinalysis showed leukocytes 6-10/HPF, red blood cells 6-10/HPF, and leukocyte esterase 1+. Urine culture revealed the presence of Serratia marcescens. The procedure was performed without complications, and the patient remained asymptomatic postoperatively.
Conclusion:
This case highlights the importance of prompt recognition and management of bladder foreign bodies, particularly in the setting of associated urinary tract infection. Cystoscopic removal remains the gold standard treatment, with adjunctive nephroscopy, providing large forceps manipulation.
