Robotic surgery in giant multilocular cystadenoma of the prostate: a rare case report

Abstract:
Giant multilocular prostatic cystadenoma is a rare benign neoplasm of the prostate gland with fewer than 30 reported cases. Obstructive voiding symptoms occur in all reported cases. In general, these lesions do not invade adjacent structures and preoperative radiologic evaluation can define the benign nature of the lesion.
Here we report a case of 65-year-old healthy male with large multilocular cystic tumor identified by magnetic resonance imaging findings that caused an obstructive effect in urination, he had received transurethral resection of prostate four times but still suffered from recurrence with urine retention and urethral catheter indwelling. For fear of high recurrent rate and suspicious of malignant coexisting in MR imaging, we performed robotic assistance radical prostatectomy without pelvic lymph node dissection for the patient.
To our knowledge, this is the first case of prostatic cystadenoma who received robotic assistance radical prostatectomy reported in the literature.
