Purpose: Low intensity expracorporeal shockwave therapy (LIEST) has been recently reported to increase local metabolism and angiogenesis, thus improve erectile dysfunction. We herein report the outcomes of treated patients in CGH.
Materials and Methods: Patients received per week for 6 weeks. Between May 2018 to Aug. 2018, 18 patients had received LIEST. The data of ED period, comorbidity, PSA, testosterone, lipid profile, erectile hardness score (EHS), international index of erectile function (IIEF) were collected before treatment. EHS, IIEF were followed up after treatments. Response to treatment was defined as successful vaginal penetration.
Results: 18 patients age from 41 to 69(55.6±8.3). All patients underwent at least 6 treatment sessions. The EHS and IIEF prior to the treatment were 1.77 ± 0.54 and 12.88 ± 4.92, respectively. After 6 treatment sessions, EHS and IIEF were improved (2.72±0.88, 17.83±3.86 ) with statistical significance (P<0.001). The response rate was 55.5% (10/18) ..
Conclusions: The new treatment modality, LIEST, demonstrated therapeutic effect for Taiwanese ED patients . LIESWT appears to improve erectile function, is safe and potential plays an important role in penile rehabilitation in men whom failed medical therapy.
