ABSTRACT:
The Bassini’s method and tension free mesh hernioplasty are commonly use in conventional open hernia repair techniques, no unison as which is the best technique.
To compare the outcomes between Bassini’s procedure and totally tension free mesh implantation in open inguinal hernia repair.
PATIENTS AND METHODS:
A total of 262 patients, collected from January 2012 to December 2013.
Collected factors include gender, age, surgical method, postoperative recurrence numbers and infection rates.
All the cases has been regularly follow up for 4 to 5 years of periods.
Outcomes of both techniques were analyzed and compare with other similar studies.
RESULT:
From our retrospective studies , the recurrence rate in patient s underwent combination Bassini’s procedure is 3.5%, totally tension free mesh implantation is 3.2%.
CONCLUSION:
Combination Bassini’s procedure seem t be no further beneficial in declining the surgical recurrent rate.
