Case report: Combined surgery of robotic pyeloplasty and flexible cystoscopy for ureteropelvic junction occlusion with renal stones

Abstract

Laparoscopic robotic pyeloplasty was frequently applied in pediatric congenital ureteropelvic junction obstruction, and is more commonly used in adult occlusive cases due to its benefit of less complications and good prognosis.

We reported a case of 37-year-old female who had left ureteropelvic junction occlusion accompanied with multiple renal stones all around 1.5cm. For the patient, we designed a combined surgery of robotic pyeloplasty with flexible cystoscopy guided pyelolithotomy. The operation resolved ureteropelvic junction occlusion and renal stone at the same time, technically reduced urinary tract destruction via using a flexible scope, as well avoiding possible ureter anastmosis trauma due to delayed renal stone manipulation.
