Abstract:
Cryptorchidism, also called undescended testis, is a condition that one or both testes have not passed along its natural pathway into the scrotum. The incidence rate is about 4% of newborn boys at term. The complications of unrepaired cryptorchidism are testicular cancer, infertility, testicular torsion, and inguinal hernia. Here we present a rare case of cryptorchidism with torsion of testicular appendage and indirect inguinal hernia in adult. The patient was diagnosed to be an incarcerated inguinal hernia because of pain. Intra-operative consultation was made since no testicle was found in the operative scene. Torsion of testicular appendage was found intra-operatively and orchiectomy was performed for the atrophic testicle. The significance of exact physical examination should be emphasized before surgery.
