Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of botulinum toxin type A submucosal injection in ketamine abusers.
Materials and Methods: We recruited the ketamine abusers followed-up at our clinic after accepting the Botulinum toxin bladder injection. The efficacy of the treatment was evaluated by pain score of voiding and maximal voiding volume (MVV).
Results: 6 patients were enrolled in this study. All patients got MVV improvement, ranged from 50-200 ml, after the treatment. Besides, decreased voiding pain were also noted in patients without sustained Ketamine abuse.
Conclusions: Botulinum toxin bladder injection may be an effective treatment toward Ketamine abusers, especially in post-voiding pain and bladder capacity. Further studies with more case number and long-term follow-up are needed to examine the effectiveness of the treatment.
