Abstract
Background
Endometriosis is related to hyperplasia of endometrial glands and stroma outside uterine. It usually occurs in female reproductive organs or rectum. Occurrence in urinary tract is reported less then five percentage. We report a rare case of endometriosis in bladder.
Cases Presentation
A 45-year-old female with underlying disease of hypertension under medication control and she had received cesarean section for once. She complained about urinary frequency for one year, especially when menstruation. Associated symptoms include lower abdominal pain. Urine routine examination showed no hematuria, pyuria nor bacteuria. Cystoscopy revealed three mass like lesions over dome and bladder tumors were suspected under computed tomography. She underwent transurethral resection of bladder tumor. Pathology examination showed ectopic endometrial glands and stroma with old and new hemorrhage and hemosiderin deposition in the lamina propria of bladder. Symptoms subsided gradually after the operation. She was transferred to Gynecology department for further follow-up.
Conclusion
Endometriosis in urinary tract may cause lower urinary tract symptoms or even obstructive uropathy. After exclusion of other infection condition, lesion biopsy for confirmed diagnosis may be needed for guidance of further treatment.
