Purpose:
The aim of this study was to assess the validity and reliability of GSWSI in urological out-patient department. A pilot study was conducted to assess the content validity. A questionnaire study was performed to assess acceptability, construct validity, internal consistency.
Materials and Methods:
This study consisted of two parts:1) a pilot study, 2) a questionnaire study. The pilot study recruited 15 participants and 85 participants enrolled in the questionnaire study from January to March 2021. In the questionnaire study, factor analysis was performed by principal component analysis with Varimax rotation Varimax rotation to clarify the relationship among factors. Internal consistency between the questionnaire items was evaluated by counting the Cronbach α with confidence intervals.
Results:
The pilot study indicated good content validity. In the questionnaire study, good KMO value (=0.880) and highly significant Bartlett sphericity test (p<0.001) were noted. Factor analysis suggested high structural validity due to total variance explained (70.458%). Four domains included "safety and convenience", "privacy", "comfort" and "multicultural knowledge". Factor loading for four domains were all above 0.5 and total 27 items were selected for the GSWSI. The internal consistency of the GSWSI was high (Cronbach α = 0.939).
Conclusions:
The GSWSI has good content validity, acceptability, good construct validity, high internal consistency. Thus, the GSWSI seems to be an applicable tool to measure gender-sensitive waiting space in urological out-patient department.
