ABSTRACT:
A retrospective study to review the incidence, severity and risk factors of bladder neck contracture (BNC) in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia who underwent Bipolar or Laser TUR-P intevenetion.
PATIENTS AND METHODS:
A retrospective studies from Department of Urology, Show Chwan Memorial Hospital.
A total of 279 patients, collected from Jun 2014 to Oct 2016.
All the patients are benign prostate hyperplasia, underwent bipolar and laser TUR-P surgical intervention.
We collected the factors of age, prostate size, time consuming, post op UTI status, to compare the incidence of bladder neck contracture after bipolar and laser TUR-P intervention. .
RESULT:
From over studies, we found that 11.4% of laser TUR-P, 5.73% of bipolar TUR-P have bladder neck contracture happened.
66.6% patient has UTI after surgery
33.3% do not have UTI
CONCLUSION:
Laser TUR-P may cause more bladder neck contracture that bipolar.
UTI after surgery become a risk factor in BNC formation
Prophylatic antibiotic may be necessary for 2-3 weeks.
